Ivan Hero from Rijeka was a prisoner of war in Russia. In the war, he participated in the battlefield in the Carpathians, where he was wounded and captured in March 1915. He ended up in the evacuation hospital in the city of Penza in Russia, from where he writes letters in which he describes how, because of his knowledge of languages, he was declared an interpreter for Croatian, Italian, German, H…
