ROMAN STUD
A copper alloy mount or stud dating from about the early Roman period (43-200 AD). The mount is circular in plan and is conical. It is cupped, the upper face being concave. At the apex of the reverse is the stub of a shaft or spike. This is sub circular in section. There is a raised rim round the cup. The function of this object is not certain.
