Military Hospital in Leeds, World War One - Gordon Donaldson recuperating in a wicker bed on wheels.
The teacher training college at Becketts' Park became the 2nd Northern General Hospital where there were 60 officer beds, 2039 other ranks beds. Between the start and the finish of world war one 57,000 soldiers were treated there. The old workhouse in Beckett Street was also converted into a 500 bed hospital. This became the East Leeds Military Hospital.
