turtle shell
Joseph Drauschke brought this tortoise shell back from the western front. This is a Greek tortoise (Testudo hermanni). These come from the European Mediterranean region (Spain, France, Italy, Bulgaria etc.). It is about 20cm long and has a rigid belly armor and a high convex back armor. The carapace is yellow to olive with dark spots.
