Joseph Vandorpe, soldier and prisoner of war
The Vandorpe family comes from Kortijk. Jozef Vandorpe was the brother of Caroline's grandmother Victoire. One day Joseph said, "Daddy, mommy, a cross, I've joined the army and I'm leaving." Father and mother were shocked. Joseph was the eldest. He died in 1919 of the flu in captivity at Altengrabow (GE). Joseph made embroidery during his captivity.
