In the interview transcript attached to this entry, Pamela Jean Allen recalls her father, Joseph Allen, a railwayman from Nottingham who joined up in 1915 and served as a gunner in the 83rd Brigade Indian Expeditionary Force in France. Joseph kept a diary in 1917, which is referred to in the interview and photographs of some pages are attached.
