Can I write for Europeana?
Will your story help our audiences discover inspiring people, remarkable places and ground-breaking ideas from Europe and beyond? Can you use material from Europeana.eu to illustrate your story? Can you provide the story in English and preferably one or more of the 24 official EU languages?
If the answer to these questions is yes, then we’d love to hear your story idea. Send us your idea via our short form. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
What do I need to know before I write my story?
Read some of the posts on our Stories page to get a feel for our style and structure. We aim for a tone of voice that is intelligent, welcoming and inspiring. Avoid jargon or overly academic language.
Stories should be 600-1200 words long and include a minimum of three objects (images, texts, audio-visual material, 3D models) from Europeana.eu, at least one of which is openly licensed and can be used on social media. You can include media from elsewhere provided it is openly licensed, or specific permission has been obtained by the author from the copyright holder.

Will I get paid for writing for Europeana?
A small number of editorial grants of 300 Euros are available for writing stories that put a spotlight on underrepresented communities. You can apply at the same time as submitting your story idea.
Can I use AI to help me write my story for Europeana?
Please be aware that you are responsible for the accuracy of the editorial you contribute. If you use AI for developing your post, you should critically assess the response it provides for plagiarism, potential biases and factually inaccurate information.
