L'espace public est un lieu partagé par tous où chacun peut se déplacer librement. Il comprend les rues, les places, les parcs, les trottoirs et les transports publics. C'est un lieu de rencontre, de partage et de socialisation. C'est un lieu où l'on rencontre des gens différents, où l'on observe la ville, où l'on joue... Chacun doit pouvoir s'y sentir en sécurité. Des espaces publics bien conçus contribuent à renforcer les liens entre les habitants et à faire vivre la démocratie.
