Ensô i cal·ligrafia
Ensô and calligraphy
Kakeiju (hung scroll) with Japanese calligraphy by monk Takeda Motsugai. The complexity of the text, which deals with the Festival of the Dead (Obon), is complemented by the minimalistic graphics of the ensô circle, which is probably the most profound symbol of Zen calligraphic art and has many possible meanings including enlightenment, the void and the universe.
