Hiroshige pupil of Toyohiro 1796-1858. After the death of Toyohiro in 1828 he began business on his own account together with his master’s grandson Toyokuna. Hiroshige’s own name was Ando Tokitaro; he migrated from Yedo to Kyoto where he published a set of views of the city and neighbourhood. Returning to Yedo he lived at Ogacho removing to Tokiwacho and then to Nakabashi Kano Shūn-Michi. He was buried at Asakura in the Shiuteramachi Togaku temple, receiving after death the name Kenkōru Ryusai Tokuōkoji. Hiroshige was famous for the Tokaido set which has the masterpieces of the Rainy Dayat Shono, "Snow at Kambara" &c. &c. Also Yedo Hyek’kei, Hundred views of Yedo, Views of sixty provinces, 36 views of Fuji, and the vertical set of "The Tokaido" issued by Tsutaya &c. &c. &c.". - 120 x 377 mm
