Technical description: Boxwood, painted or stained dark brown (except bell); horn ferrules (except barrel, which has ribbed german silver ferrules); keys brass.Six pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, middle section for the fingers of the right hand, lower section with keys, bell.Mouthpiece: grooved for cord, with long table.Barrel: may be same wood as other parts but possibly cocus; ferrules ill-fitting, probably not original.Upper section: speaker liner projects into bore, also above flat seating for pad. Three keys (throat A?, E?4/B?5, C?4/G?5) mounted in pillars with saltspoon keyheads. All keys, except throat A, lined with brass.Middle section: brass thumb rest is probably a later addition and not professionally made.Lower section: keys for L4 have broad, flat shanks above their pivots. Keys: 5 with flat square heads, in blocks, 3 saltspoon in pillars; little-finger keys and tone-hole in fusiform swelling. F-hole for R4 lined with brass.Bell: short and widely-flaring; lighter than other parts but fits well. Bell is perhaps the only part of this clarinet which was originally made by Uhlmann. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throat A?; throat A?. L2: T. L3: T; E?4/B?5. L4: C?4/G?5; E3/B?4; F?3/C?5. R1: T. R2: T. R3: T. R4: F3/C5; G?3/E?5. Keymount type: 3 in pillars, others block or swelling. Keyhead type: 5 flat, square; 3 saltspoon. Repair History: The three saltspoon keys appear to be a later addition. It is hard to say whether the whole barrel has been replaced or only its ferrules. The bell has probably been cleaned rather drastically.
