Adolf Koriath writes to his wife Wilhelmine from Western Front

Adolf Koriath kam aus Ostpreußen nach Westenfeld (heute Wattenscheid), wo er bis zu seinem Einzug als Bergmann arbeitete. In Westenfeld lernte er auch seine Frau Wilhelmine (1885-1967) kennen. Während ihr Mann als Soldat der 7. Kompanie des Landwehr-Infanterie-Regiments Nr. 83 an der Westfront kämpfte, arbeitete Wilhelmine bei Krupp in der Rüstungsproduktion. Täglich legte sie zusammen mit anderen Frauen den Weg von Wattenscheid nach Essen in die Krupp Werke zu Fuß zurück. Als sie 1916 eines Abends von der Arbeit nach Hause kam, fand sie unter der Eingangstür die Nachricht, dass ihr Ehemann bei Verdun gefallen sei.
