German shell case decorated by an Irish solider while in a German POW camp | Mrs. O'Halloran
DU204 CB German shell case decorated by an Irish solider while in a German POW camp
My grandmother loaned money to her neighbour in Limerick, Mrs. O'Halloran. She couldn't repay the loan so Mrs. O'Halloran gave my grandmother four German case shell cases that her father had brought home from the war. He was a prisoner of war in a German camp and apparently decorated the shell cases during his internment. The shell is inscribed with Karlsruhe, 1916.
