In dieser Halbfigurenkomposition erscheint links im Vordergrund Christus, der über die vielköpfige Gruppe der aufgebrachten Juden hinweg seinen Blick vergebend auf die demütige Sünderin wirft. Der von links kommende Lichtstrahl hebt die beiden Protagonisten hervor. Die Röntgenaufnahme bestätigt Kompositionsänderungen, die mit bloßem Auge sowohl bei der linken Hand Christi, als auch im Bereich des Himmels oberhalb der Figuren sichtbar sind.
