Technical description: Cocus; 5 sections; german silver keys; 6 german silver ferrules plus heavy cap and ferrule at foot; screw-stopper; tuning-slide; metal-lined head; large oval embouchure-hole; small finger-holes; G? key set diagonally across instrument; adjacent low C/C? touches; keywork appears to be more modern in style than many of the mid to late 19th century flutes described previously, but the finger-holes are much smaller. Possibly a German or Austrian instrument: the current pitch is very high for this date, but may not be original (see Usable pitch, below). Keymount type: rod/pillar, with saddles. Keyhead type: cylinder cup. Repair History: Poorly repadded with pads which are intended for deeper cups.
