- The panel painting seems to have been influenced by different styles. For example traditional Byzantinesque qualities are evident in the flat rendering of the Madonna`s garment, gold background and halos, while the movement of baby Jesus sitting on the laps of the Madonna and the communication between the two figures seems to have been influenced by the innovative styles of the sculptor Giovanni Pisano and Giotto.
