- Saint Lawrence was an early christian and one of the seven deacons of ancient Rome who were martyred during the persecution of the Roman Emperor Valerian in the year 258. He was burned and "grilled" to death. Flying in the sky are angels awaiting to recieve the soul of the martyr.
