David McSavage (born David Andrews Jr.) is an Irish comedy writer and performer. He has been performing at national and international comedy festivals such as the Kilkenny Comedy Festival, and appeared on Irish television comedy programmes, including The Savage Eye. He is the son of an Irish politician, David Andrews, brother of former Fianna Fáil politician Barry Andrews and first cousin of Irish television and radio presenter Ryan Tubridy, and also cousin of former Fianna Fáil TD Chris Andrews.In 2005, McSavage appeared on The Late Late Toy Show, where he played a Scrooge.He is known for street performance on streets in Dublin city centre, and has been arrested on Grafton Street as he was selling copies of his DVD whilst performing in a posing pouch His routine consists of improvised songs often predicated on speculation about the lives of those passing by.In 2008, McSavage devised and featured in Headwreckers, an episode of Channel 4's Comedy Lab show. In 2009, he piloted a comedy show on RTÉ Two TV channel called The Savage Eye (part of the Project Ha Ha series). McSavage went on to write for and act in a further five The Savage Eye programmes. The series was directed by Kieron Walsh and Damien O'Donnell. The series was commissioned and the first episode of the new season was broadcast on Monday 11/1/11. It and the second episode can be seen viewed on the RTÉ Player website. It is a six-part comedy sketch series which offers a satirical and often surreal examination of its subject matter.
