Auguste Peix was born in 1894 in Châteauroux (05) and grew up in Réallon in the Hautes Alpes. A private 2nd class soldier, this son of farmers belonged to the 157th Infantry Regiment and was, like his comrades, particularly exposed to the horrors of this war. In November 1914, he probably wrote his last words to his parents, on the back of his photo: "I am leaving for Gap on December 1 and when I …
