View from Fujimigahara in Owari Province

This print is one of Hokusai's best compositions and is often identified as the Tubmaker's Fuji. Hokusai's knowledge of the use of the square and compass is evident in the huge circular barrel and its hoops. This Ukyo-e print also suggest a degree of familiarity with Dutch copper prints that may have influenced his expression of the geometric background of this print. This work is one of the Thirty-Six views of Mt. Fuji
