Mould for casting lead hornbooks, from Cumbria
The drawing shows the two halves of a mould for casting lead hornbooks. The hornbooks would have the alphabet on one side, and a geometric pattern on the other side. The handle, in the form of a head, has a loop for attachment to a belt. On the other side is a mould for a number of small ornaments, such as birds, wheels, shields, and hearts.
