Széchenyi Chain Bridge
The Chain Bridge was the first permanent crossing between Pest and Buda, as well as the first bridge built across the Danube in Hungary. Construction began in 1839, and the completed bridge was inaugurated by Franz Joseph on November 20, 1849. The three-span suspension bridge with stone piers and stiffening girders, was designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark, while the construction was supervised by Adam Clark.
