The archaeological looting and illicit trafficking of cultural goods

The looting of artistic works during wartime has long been the subject of many artistic representations. More discreetly, the looting of graves is also well-documented. In contemporary times, the theft of paintings, sometimes famous ones, is on the rise, followed by the development of massive archaeological looting. The fight against the illicit trafficking of cultural goods, the third largest after arms and drugs, is being organized to protect heritage.
