Jean Mariaux, born in 1893 in Angoulême, was the son of Eugène Mariaux, a career soldier who, after the First World War, was military commander of the Chamber of Deputies and then governor of the Invalides. His mother, Odette Vigneron, died young of tuberculosis. Jean Mariaux studied law and was a doctor at the age of 23. Mobilized at the start of the Great War, he took an aspiring cadet course. H…
