This is a philosphical-moral tract written by St Bernard (1090-1153) abbot of Clairvaux, thought to be addressed to his sister who was a cloistered nun. In this work composed of 73 sermons, Bernard expounds on the virtues of living a devout life. He also includes admonishments on vices such as anger, pride and envy.
