Woolen shawl
The shawl shows a European motif. After 1820 there was a lot of European influence on Indian textiles, often with a central medallion. From 1850 onwards the French came to Kashmir to adapt traditional patterns to the European market. Patterns were also designed in France and sent to Kashmir in sample books for manufacture.
