NEOLITHIC DEBITAGE

A small piece of debitage from flint working, probably dating from the Neolithic period 3500-2100BC. This dark material is Derbyshire chert, a hard variety of quartz that, like flint, can be broken to form sharp edges. It is not local to the find spot and must have been imported before working.
