MESOLITHIC TRANCHET AXEHEAD

Mesolithic flint tranchet axehead, small area of cortex present on one side, full recortication, all surfaces now white. The implement.has a lozenge section, keeled on both sides but tending to oval towards the cutting edge, the flaking is finer than is usually seen on these implements. The cutting edge was formed by the removal of the eponymous 'tranchet' flakes. Length 118mm, Width 50mm, Thickneā€¦
