EARLY MEDIEVAL STRAP END

Early Medieval, cast copper alloy, strap end of Thomas' Class E 1, bearing a devolved version of Winchester style leaf decoration. The plate is double sided and decorated with a series of openings set each side of a central spine and set within a raised frame, which increases in depth where the diverging ribs, separating the openings, join it.
