MEDIEVAL BUCKLE

Medieval buckle; cast copper alloy single loop, trapezoidal buckle with ornate buckle plate decorated with a lion. This buckle is of probable 14th century date. The buckle frame is trapezoidal with a tapering, triangular cross-section. The frame is expanded at the front corners which are drawn out to lobed knops.
