Vultur gryphus Linnaeus: CATHARTIDAE: Andean condor

These are the largest flying land-birds of the western hemisphere. They are also extremely long-lived, up to 50 years. As such distinctive birds they have been chosen as national bird in Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. - -
