mummy-cases

Fragment of gilt cartonnage mummy-cover footcase: triangular patch of coarse woven textile with three gilt plaster toes surviving attached. Possible from same footcase as UC 79380 though relief seems flatter. From a group of miscellaneous cemetery finds originally the share of Jesse Haworth from the 1888 excavations of Flinders Petrie at Hawara, initially presented by Haworth to the Victoria and Albert Museum, and transferred to the Petrie Museum in 2004.
