Brades Locks, Gower Branch Canal, Oldbury

The wide canal at Brades Locks with wooden joey boats in the left foregroaund. A joey or day boat was only used for work, as opposed to boats that could be lived in on the canal. They were usually wooden and built to a simple design that hardly changed in 200 years. (Courtesy of the T. W. King collection held Dudley Archives & Local History Service).
