Plant - Lycopod

A fossil Lycopod plant identified as Sigillaria sp.. The specimen is a fragment of a branch with bark impressions on its surface. The bark has grooves 4-5mm across infilled with coal, running along its length. Finer lines can be seen along the ridges between the grooves. The fragment has been broken revealing a fine grained, dark grey matrix. The fossil was oval or has been flattend during diagene…
