Derbyshire Royal Infirmary

Queen Victoria visited Derby to lay the Foundation Stone at Derby General Infirmary on the 21st May 1891, which she graciously thereafter allowed to be called the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. The Derby General Infirmary had been founded in 1810 on land formerly part of the Castlefields estate. The main part of the Royal Infirmary was built in c 1890 by Young and Hall.
