Removing the Bass Statue

This is a statue of Michael Bass by the sculptor Sir Joseph Boehm (made in 1884). Michael Bass was the son of William who was a famous Burton Brewer. He was the MP of Derby for 35 years and gave money to buy land which today is known as Bass' rec'. The statue was originally erected in the Market Place in 1884 and removed to the Museum and Art Gallery in 1926.
