Cherrington's Chemists, Dispensary

There was a chemist at 5, Market Place as early as 1780 with George Cherrington becoming an apprentice at the business in 1882. The tennant in 1780 was George Stevenson, 'Druggist'. The building was part of the Duke of Newcastle's Estate and Stevenson paid an annual rent of £120.
