Wheeler Gate, Nottingham, 1922

The Old Moot Hall is the second building on the left. The name Moot Hall derives from the old Anglo-Saxon word for private court, 'Halimote' and was the private court of the Lord of the manor. See NTGM006505 for view taken in 1925 after the building to the right had been demolished to turn Friar Lane into the road we have today.
