Floods -road closed

September 1931 saw the worst floods in Derby for 50 years, but these were surpassed just months later when 36 hours of rain fell around 22 May 1932. The city centre was submerged as the water came halfway up the windows. The damage was estimated at £400,000 and the Mayor launched a relief fund.
