Yard Improvements at Mill workers houses, Flat Square, Darley Abbey

Showing cottages, formerly lived in by Evans' millworkers, in Flat Square, Darley Abbey. Thomas Evans founded the 'Boar's Head' cotton mill in 1782. The mill was a large complex comprising of five mills, four of which still survive today. The mills were used for the preparation of paper, corn, leather and for fulling (treatment of cloth).
