The Garden of Remembrance, Lowgates, Staveley

The Memorial Gardens were built to honour men of the Sherwood Forester Battalions who were killed during the Battles of the Somme, 1st July - 18th November 1916 . A memorial plinth with a statue of a soldier listing names of villagers who died in World War One (with later additions from other conflicts), stands in the gardens. Also showing the Victoria Hotel in the background.
