Trent Baths, Victoria Embankment, River Trent, c 1930s

The baths were not baths in the usual victorian sense, ie for washing in, but rather an enclosed section of the River Trent, on the Meadows side of the river, which was used for swimming. This picture shows the changing rooms on the river embankment. The swimming baths opened on 24th of July 1857 and closed on the 16th June 1941.
