"II" CRE BOUCHER, Francois; (French; 1703-1770) AFTER WATTEAU, Antoine; (French; 1684-1721) LABEL: "At the age of nineteen, Boucher was employed by the collector Jean de Julienne to work on the graphic record of Watteau's oeuvre, titled Figures de différents caractères (Figures of different characters). The young artist contributed 119 etchings to the work, capturing Watteau's style with precision and delicacy. Boucher's prolonged study of Watteau's draftsmanship had an important impact on the artist's later career, and contributed significantly to the development of images such as that of the two young girls gathering flowers (glaha 50356)."
