epidote; in quartz, with minor hornblende

Rhode Island, N[ew] York, USA unknown Amazing coincidence: M6243 and M7869 were originally parts of one piece. They must have been broken and separated before 1883. The Eck collection piece came here in1884, the Young piece in1954. In the 1970s Julian Jocelyn spotted the two joining together. Typically M6243 is recorded as being from Rhode Island, while M7869 is recorded as being from Long Island. Clearly, one or both are not quite accurate!
