*Syrphus admirandus* Goeldlin, 1996. F

[Rowardennan, east Loch Lomond, Stirlingshire] [Scotland, UK] This specimen, unlabelled, but thought to be from the Rowardennan Field Station area, Loch Lomondside, Stirlingshire, was identified as *Syrphus admirandus* by Roger Morris in 2008. This species is not currently known to occur in British Isles but is a northern European species. The specimen was in association with other insects which were labelled as from the area and similarly pinned. These were in a drawer of miscellaneous Diptera at the field station. There is no indication of any non-British insects being included in the collection. Until a specimen is caught locally or elswhere this should not be taken as a fully reliable British record.
