serpentine marble; finely banded ("Eozoon canadense"); polished slab mounted on slate backing plate

[Canada] [Precambrian] A specimen with an interesting past. The slate backing bears the faint legend, in pencil: "Eozoon from Sir W. Logan to Mr Crosskey per Mr C. Robb".
