Antler sleeve.

Catno. is also featured in this inscription. Schaffhausen, Switzerland MANU Schafhausen Switzerland unknown This sleeve was most likely used as a handle for a piece of flint, allowing the user to use the flint without cutting himself.
The piece of flint would have been held in place with string that would be tied around the handle, grooves on the side of the sleeve suggest this.
Great care was taken to ensure that the handle would fit comfortably in the hand and cut marks suggest that the bone was modified to suit the user.
The artefact itself is dark brown and has been coated with a substance that would protect it in storage.
