"The Butcher's Dog" 1896

Unmounted s. in stone with butterfly; c.r. CRE WHISTLER, James McNeill; (American; 1834-1903) PRINT WAY, Thomas Robert; (English; 1861-1913) "The Butchers Dog" was drawn by Whistler on Cleaveland Street, London, close to the studio that Whistler was then renting on Fitzroy Street. Whistler was fond of drawing the subject of shop fronts, and he explored the theme in a variety of different media. This lithograph was printed by Thomas Way.
