*Scarabaeus gideon* Linn., var *oromedon* Drury, 1770 [=1773] M ? type

Many of the specimens in Hunter's eighteenth century collection were utilised by Fabricius and other contemporary entomologists for describing new species. This specimen was identified by RA Staig in 1931 as a type of *oromedon* of Drury. There is another specimen with wings out stretched (141688) and a normal *gideon* example (141693).
