pyromorphite; large hexagonal prisms on quartz partially pseudomorphed by galena

Basse Bretagne, France unknown From William Hunter's original collection. Very fine. Almost certainly from Huelgoat. Formerly had attached Jacob Forster number "2/Yy" inidcating that this is "2. A most singular Specimen of black Lead-Ore with sixsided columnar Cristals of the same Ore, flat an [sic] both Ends, the inside of these cristals is partly shining Lead decomposing and coming to black and reddish Horn-Lead-Ore from a mine in Basse Bretagne £6 6s 0d" on the bill dated 12.12. 1780.
